Q: What is the best age for watching kinderbright's® DVD's?

A: We recommend our DVD's for children ages 2 thru 4. We have had very young children (e.g. 24 months) watch Volume I and learn the sounds of letters within a few viewings. Three and four year-olds have also enjoyed these DVD's. Because every child's learning style is unique, the speed with which your child will learn will vary.

Q: Are there advantages to beginning early?

A: The younger the child, the greater is the opportunity to create neuropathways, the foundation of what we call "intelligence." We are all born with billions of brain cells, but neuropathways are only developed when we are "learning."

This is why intense and joyful intellectual stimulation before the age of six is so important. In fact, neuropathway formation decreases dramatically with each year of life. After the age of six, new neuropathways are quite difficult to stimulate. This is why we encourage parents to start their children with our DVD's as close to age 2 as possible.

Q: How are your DVD's different from other children's videos?

A: Children's videos are often well-produced, but their core philosophy is very different from ours. Our goal is not to entertain; it is to educate. Entertainment often means cartoons, loud music and sound effects, all of which can lead to a very scattered experience and interfere with the very ideas the DVD is trying to teach.

At kinderbright®, we present concepts in a way that is both rapid and intensely focused, with pictures of real people, places and things which young children inherently find interesting. We also eliminate everything which might compete or interefere with what we are teaching.

Q: Is a DVD as effective as an interactive computer program?

A: While our DVD's are interactive, they do not use the "point and click" method of answering. Recent research funded by the National Science Foundation at Georgetown University indicated that if children are interested in the televised content, the "point and click" method is no more effective than just watching the lesson. At kinderbright®, we believe that when children become quiet and receptive, they are absorbing information with little resistance, so they will remember a great deal more of the televised content.

Q: What is the best way to view kinderbright's® DVD's?

A: Show the DVD's before any other entertaining videos, and only when your child is well-rested and happy. Always present the DVD's in a positive way, never as "work." It should be fun, because children love to learn. Let your child self-correct. In many instances, adult correction can interfere with a child's natural love of learning. Our DVD's use presentation styles designed to correct errors. If you notice a mistake, simply show the segment again at a later date without calling attention to the error.

Before beginning any new concepts, be certain your child has achieved mastery of the previous concepts. For example, do not begin Volume 2 until your child has mastered most of the 26 letter sounds found in Volume 1.

You will find performance has been optimized for a widescreen digital television, but the DVD's have been enjoyed on all kinds of television screens, computers, and portable DVD players. Kinderbright's® DVD's have been produced with an aspect ratio of 16:9. (If you have an older television, be sure to set your DVD player to play back in "letterbox.")

Q: Do you plan to release other volumes?

A: We have already begun work on Volume III, which teaches four letter words and the numbers 21-100.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: We offer a 60-day money back guarantee with every purchase, so you can order with complete confidence.

Q: May we contact you with questions?

A: Please do! You can reach us at anytime at support@kinderbright.com
