ABOUT US
The kinderbright® series was created and produced by the principal of a Montessori school, whose dual backgrounds as a preschool teacher and trained filmmaker were a unique blend. In the typical Montessori classroom, children frequently learn to read and perform mathematical operations well before their counterparts in traditional preschools. At kinderbright®, our goal is to give every child, no matter where they live and no matter what their means, this same head start. For that reason, the kinderbright® app is free. The kinderbright® app is currently in use all over the world, from the U.S. to South Africa, from the U.K. to Singapore.
Teachers at Montessori Private Academy, in Rockford, Illinois, report that the use of kinderbright® videos has caused 3 and 4 year-olds to read significantly earlier, in certain cases speeding up language acquisition by 6 months. Given such young ages, this is tremendous acceleration. Research shows if children are reading well early in life, they will likely be reading well throughout their years in school.
It should also be noted, as published recently by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), that technology is merely one tool in a vast toolbox, namely, the Montessori classroom.
As Dr. Maria Montessori said in the 1940's: "I would like, however, to point out that these mechanical aids are insufficient to bring about the totality of education. Children do not learn and do not develop their character by merely listening and looking on. Auditory and visual aids therefore, although very important indeed, are only partial aids. The child learns by means of his own activity and if given an opportunity to learn actively he develops his character and personality too. The child perfects himself even more by means of his hand than by means of the senses. He can develop himself and the personal talents of his nature when given the opportunity and guidance to produce and to discover by himself. Modern methods of education, in fact, are not only visual, but above all active."
